Overview

Mentorship is the influence, guidance, or direction given by a mentor. A mentor is someone who teaches or gives help & advice to a less experienced & often younger person.

Just like there are many paths to the same destination, there are multiple ways to mentor. Ignite Arts & STEM approach matches mentors with a small cohort of like-minded mentees who share similar goals & objectives.

Ignite Arts & STEM Seeks Mentors and Workshop Leaders

Ignite Arts & STEM is seeking passionate and experienced professionals to contribute to our upcoming program. We invite you to share your expertise and inspire the next generation of creative thinkers and problem-solvers.

Ignite Arts & STEM’s Igniting the Pathway to Success Mentoring Program was developed to support BIPOC high school students (grades 8-12) interested in exploring careers in STEM. This program, made possible because of partnerships with Medtronic Diabetes and the Entertainment Industry Professionals Mentoring Alliance (EIPMA), consists of a series of in-person workshops that integrates soft skill building with life-skill development & post-secondary education culture awareness. Additional donors, supporters and partners include: Raising Cane's, Rocketbook, & Meta.

Kicking off on Saturday October 4, 2025 and running for 4 consecutive Saturdays through Saturday October 25, 2025, the 4-week program will be hosted at Medtronic Diabetes offices in Northridge. Program participants will get personal guidance & support along with the opportunity to meet & network with experienced professionals via two (student moderated) panel discussions, two speed mentoring sessions and two professional development workshops. Like speed dating, speed mentoring allows mentees to connect with multiple professionals in a short amount of time. Each session will involve ~5-8 rotations with ~10-12 minutes in each rotation. The sessions begin with a short interactive panel discussion with all of the mentors. With each rotation, mentees get to interact with a new group of professionals and engage in a new conversation.

Opportunities:

  • Mentor: Participate in mentor panels and speed mentoring sessions, providing guidance and support to our students.
  • Workshop Leader: Facilitate engaging professional development workshops for our students.

You can choose to:

  • Mentor only
  • Lead a workshop only
  • Participate as both a mentor and a workshop leader
