2025/2026 Student Art Exhibition Application

Application period October 1, 2025 – March 30, 2026

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR 2025/2026 STUDENT ART EXHIBITION APPLICATION!

Overview

Ignite Arts & STEM (IAS) is pleased to present the 4th cohort of our Igniting Ideas: Emerging Artists | Student Art Exhibition — a fully juried exhibition exclusively open to students who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color).

This year's exhibition will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 12:00 PM – 3:30 PM at Good Mother Gallery in West Adams, Los Angeles — a nationally recognized contemporary art space and proud member of the New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) and the Gallery Association Los Angeles (GALA).

This is not a school showcase. This is a professional gallery experience. Selected students will have their work displayed on the same walls that regularly feature emerging local and international artists. For many participants, this will be their first professional exhibition — and we take that seriously.

This is a competitive, juried exhibition. Submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by a panel of jurors. Not all submissions will be accepted.

Accepted mediums for two-dimensional artwork are as follows:

  • Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.
  • Drawings: colored pencil, pencil, ink, marker, pastels, charcoal (it is recommended that charcoal and pastel drawings be fixed)
  • Collages: must be two-dimensional
  • Prints: lithographs, silkscreen, block prints
  • Mixed Media: use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc.
  • Computer-generated art
  • Photographs
  • Other similar two-dimensional pieces

Teachers and/or students should verify their eligibility before submitting their application. Artwork must be the creation of a single student. Students may not collaborate on an entry.

⚠️ Important Note About Your Email Address

When completing your application, please do not use your school district email address as your primary email address. School districts restrict outside communications with student email accounts, which means our emails — including your submission confirmation, acceptance notification, and all other program communications — will be blocked and will never reach you.

Use a personal email address (Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo, etc.) as your primary contact. If you only have a school email address, enter it in the Alternate Email field and provide a personal email as your primary. Missing critical communications due to an unreachable email address is not grounds for an appeal or extension, and may result in your removal from the program.

The information requested on the application should be provided as thoroughly as possible. Students should include contact information that will be valid through June 2026.

⚠️ IMPORTANT — ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT: Participation in the Igniting Ideas: Emerging Artists exhibition requires the selected student artist to be present at the exhibition in person on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 12:00 PM – 3:30 PM. Attendance is not optional. The core purpose of this program is to give student artists the experience of their first professional gallery exhibition — and that experience requires being in the room. Students who are unable to commit to attending in person should not submit an application. Selected artists who do not attend the exhibition will be removed from the program and their artwork will not be displayed.

Secondary education is high school, while post-secondary education is what students attend after high school. Colleges, universities, vocational, and trade schools are all examples of post-secondary education.
